Lona Sayej is an associate attorney at Strom & Associates. Lona is bilingual and fluent in Arabic. She obtained her law degree from Western Michigan University – Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2020. She graduated in the Top 10% of her class, granting her the distinction of graduating Magna Cum Laude.
During law school, Lona was recognized as the top student in her Evidence and Decision-Making classes. As a result, Lona was chosen to work as a public defender at the Washtenaw Public Defender’s Office in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she advocated for clients in felony court pursuant to Michigan Court Rule 8.120. This rule allows law students, approved by the American Bar Association and in good standing, to represent clients and appear in court on their behalf.
Additionally, Lona was hand selected to be a Teacher’s Assistant for Federal Income Taxation class for three consecutive terms. Lona was also a Senior Associate Editor for Thomas M. Cooley’s Law Review. Her position as an Associate Editor earned her the ‘John D. Volker Award’ for making the most significant contribution to the publication. Lona’s contributions lead to her receiving the ‘Leadership Achievement Award’ for her guidance and involvement with the law school.
After law school, Lona worked as a law clerk at Strom & Associates. She became an associate in 2021 and handles workers’ compensation cases for the firm. She is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association. She is a passionate advocate for the injured worker and fights hard to get the benefits that they deserve.
