Million dollar settlement for dog bite

In July, 2013, attorneys for a 17 year-old boy reached a settlement of over one million dollars againt the dog owners' insurance policy for injuries he sustained as a result of a dog attack. His injuries included scars and emotional trauma.
Dog bites are common in the City of Chicago. Especially, due to the close proximity of neigbors' yards. There are Illinois laws in place that specifically adress dog bite lawsuits.
