A report by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) states that more American youths are participating in sports than ever before. While taking part in sports is an important part of healthy physical and mental development, sports injuries can and often do occur. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 2.6 million young athletes in the United States seek medical treatment in hospital emergency rooms for sports-related injuries each year.
Riding a motorcycle presents more safety risks than driving a car, especially at night. This is true in Chicago just as it is everywhere else. In fact, around 80 percent of all motorcycle accidents result in injury or death, whereas only 20 percent of car accidents result in injury or death. However, many still ride their motorcycles, whether it is for enjoyment or better fuel efficiency.
Keyless ignition systems are billed as a time-saving device of convenience that can make getting up, and getting out the door a little bit easier. Many people spend years in nursing homes due to old age or physical disability. Unfortunately, residents of these facilities may be at risk for abuse.
In early June, Illinois law enforcement responded to a single-car accident. According to the Chicago Tribune, a 73-year-old man was driving the vehicle when it left the road and slammed into a tree. Both the man and his 72-year-old wife, who was in the passenger seat, died as a result of the accident.
