After an Oklahoma jury returned a $3 million verdict against Toyota in a defective accelerator case, the parties agreed to a confidential settlement before the jury determined whether punitive damages should be awarded. The amount of the settlement is confidential.

Previous trials in New York and California stemming from unintended acceleration had absolved Toyota of liability. The Oklahoma verdict is the first against Oklahoma in a string of law suits arising from 2009 acceleration issues.
Over 700 possible suits against Toyota arising from alleged faulty accelerators are still pending.
