A two-vehicle crash took place in Chicago around 1:40 a.m. on Nov. 8. Five people suffered injuries in the car accident. According to Fire Media Affairs, four people were seriously injured and were taken to area hospitals. A fifth person was taken to a medical center and was listed in good condition, according to reports.

Police say a Mercury Sable and Dodge Caravan were headed eastbound on Chicago Avenue. The Mercury was rear-ended by the Dodge. The impact caused the Mercury to hit a brick wall and the Dodge to strike a pole. The collision took place on West Chicago Avenue in the 5400 block. Sources did not indicate if police were going to file charges against one of the drivers.
In some cases, law enforcement and insurance companies might place the liability for a rear-end crash on the driver that struck the car in front. If the accident involved serious injuries, a specialized team might create a reconstruction of the collision. The team may evaluate factors such as following distance, speed, and braking action. The resulting accident report may contain information that suggests liability on the part of one or both of the drivers.

A personal injury lawyer might also do an independent investigation or may hire experts to perform analysis of the evidence. If the case goes to court, the plaintiff might receive compensation. The financial award could address the victim’s medical treatment costs, income lost while unable to work, vehicle damage expenses and pain and suffering in some situations.
