Single car road accident

Three people from Illinois were killed in a single-car accident in the early morning hours of Oct. 16. The accident occurred in McDonough county when a Jeep holding one 21-year-old driver and three passengers veered from the road. The Jeep went into a roadside ditch and continued over 220 feet before it collided with a tree and entered an embankment.

In addition to the female driver, there were two 23-year-old male passengers and one 21-year-old female passenger. The male passenger from Bushnell, the driver and the female passenger were killed in the accident. The surviving male passenger was hospitalized, and his condition was unknown upon intake.

School authorities at Western Illinois University report that both the driver and the deceased male passenger from Bushnell were students at the university. State police have not speculated publicly about the cause of the accident. Both the driver and her passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, and the police investigation is ongoing. The results of the investigation into the cause of the accident may help determine whether the injured driver can file a personal injury claim against the estate of the driver.

If it is determined that the accident was caused by a negligent driver, an injured person may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses as well as pain and suffering caused by the trauma of the crash. A deceased driver may be liable for such claims if it can be proven that the accident could have been prevented through reasonable safety precautions. A personal injury lawyer may help injured auto accident victims receive the help they need while recovering from serious injuries.
