Authorities said that a Ford Mustang and a White Freightliner were both traveling north on U. S. 45 when the truck attempted to enter Interstate 24 by turning left, traveling across the path of the Mustang. The driver of the Mustang was unable to avoid the truck, and the two vehicles collided, authorities said.

The driver of the Mustang, a 22-year-old woman, suffered fatal injuries due to the accident. Officials pronounced her dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the truck, a 45-year-old from California, was reportedly cited by ISP for failure to yield when turning left. It was not immediately clear if the trucker reported suffering any injuries in the event.

The wrongful death of a loved one can have cataclysmic effects on the life and finances of families. These bereaved families must often do without the emotional support that the deceased victim had provided as well as the financial contributions the victim had made to the economic life of family and the stability of the household. However, families may possess legal recourse for these devastating losses in the event that there is evidence demonstrating that another party’s actionable behavior was directly responsible for the fatal incident.

Families may exercise their right to legal counsel and seek compensation through a wrongful death claim filed in civil court. If successful in bringing this lawsuit against the party at fault for the fatal event, certain family members of the victim may be awarded significant restitution for damages.
